Better brunch foods - Morningstar Farms Maple-Flavored Veggie Sausage Patties and Kashi GoLean Strawberry Flax Waffles were highlighted by Shape magazine (July 2009) as more wholesome food options to eat for brunch, as compared to common brunch foods such as French toast and sausages.

Kellogg puts mouths where its money is - Kellogg began distributing food from its commitment to donate a day’s worth of cereal production to Feeding America, Battle Creek Enquirer (6/18) reported. The company also encouraged employees to participate in food drives and asked consumers to submit donations online to Feeding America in a campaign to fight hunger.

Kellogg adds fiber, hoping to bowl cereal consumers over - Kellogg has announced plans to pump fiber into most of its cereal line, USA Today (6/4) reported. The move is expected to rock the packaged foods industry. Fiber is the top-ranked item that consumers are asking Kellogg to add to kid cereals.

 

Kellogg compiles consumer ‘FIBER-pe-dia’ - After a recent Kellogg Co. survey revealed that consumers don’t know where to find fiber, and mistakenly believe that products containing “whole grain” provide it, the company decided to create FIBER-pe-dia, Progressive Grocer (6/9) reported. The report provides consumers with the necessary knowledge to incorporate good sources of fiber into their diets.

 

Kellogg cash strategy to turn toward equity holders in second half of 2009 - Kellogg plans to use its cash to increase shareholder value after using the proceeds from its recent $750 million bond offering to reduce the company's exposure to commercial paper, Financial Times (6/4) reported. After trimming down its some $1.4 billion in commercial paper, it plans to go ahead with previous goals to carry out share buybacks and dividend increases.

 

Health's 2009 Best of Food Awards - Special K Multi-Grain Crackers and All-Bran Chocolate Rolled Fiber Wafers have been honored with Best of Food Awards by Health magazine (June 2009). Special K Crackers received the Best Cracker award and All-Bran Fiber Wafers received the Best Cookie award.

  

2009 IndustryWeek's 50 Best Manufacturing Companies - Kellogg has been honored by IndustryWeek (5/28) as one of the 50 Best Manufacturing Companies in 2009. The magazine noted that Kellogg’s annual revenue increased by $1 billion in 2008, as compared to 2007.

 

Special K brand shakes things up with new weight-management protein shake - Kellogg's Special K brand is introducing its first weight-management protein shake – a creamy, delicious way to take the edge off hunger and help women stay on track with their weight-management goals, PR Newswire (5/28) reported. Since launching early this spring, Special K Shakes have been selling out nationwide.

The cookies are a long-time favorite with families in this region.

 

Hanging tough - An article in The New Yorker (4/20) highlighted Kellogg’s actions during The Great Depression, including doubling its ad budget, moving aggressively into radio advertising, and heavily pushing its new cereal, Rice Krispies. Kellogg among 'World's Most Ethical Companies' - In recognition of Kellogg’s ongoing commitment to ethics and integrity, the company has once again earned a spot on the Ethisphere Institute's annual list of the "World’s Most Ethical Companies." Kellogg has been included in the ranking since Ethisphere began publishing the list in 2007.

A taste for food stocks - Kellogg’s stock is attractively priced for investors and worth $55 a share, according to a chief investment officer for U.S. equities at Vontobel Asset Management, BusinessWeek (3/23) reported. Kellogg among 'Most Admired' - Kellogg has once again earned a spot on Fortune's (3/16) annual list of the "World's Most Admired Companies." Kellogg ranked sixth in the global consumer food products industry.

Kellogg ranks 10th on CoreBrand index - Kellogg Company is ranked 10th on this year's Corporate Branding Index, up from 15th in 2007 and 21st in 2005, according to a CoreBrand Press Release (March 2009). Of the top ten, only Kellogg has shown significant movement in its ranking.

Dow, Kellogg's rank high for women execs - The National Association for Female Executives named Kellogg one of its Top 50 Companies for Executive Women, WNEM-TV (3/16) reported. The NAFE list spotlights corporations whose practices demonstrate that women matter to the bottom line.

Five not-bad-for-grownups kids' cereals - Kellogg’s Frosted Mini-Wheats Bite Size cereal is one of the best options for a morning bowl of cereal, according to a CBS News (3/10) report. The report noted the cereal is very high in fiber content and a great source of iron.

Kellogg's earnings increase by 1.7% – Kellogg said fourth-quarter profit increased 1.7% as higher prices boosted revenue, Wall Street Journal (2/6) reported. Kellogg's net income rose to $179 million, or 47 cents a share, from $176 million, or 44 cents a share, a year earlier.

Kellogg shrinks cereal boxes to free shelf space, cut waste – Kellogg is replacing cereal boxes at Wal-Mart and Kroger stores in Detroit with shorter, deeper containers that hold the same amount, Bloomberg (1/26) reported. Manufacturers of consumer goods have changed the size and shape of packaging in response to retailers who want to free up shelf space to stock more varieties and cut down on waste.

 

Kellogg, Pedigree to advertise good causes in Super Bowl Rookie Super Bowl advertiser Kellogg's Frosted Flakes hopes to make a gr-r-reat first impression by using its ad time to promote doing good, USA Today (1/26) reported. The 30-second spot asks viewers to go to FrostedFlakes.com and nominate a kids’ playing field to be rebuilt, courtesy of Kellogg.

 

Kellogg shares rise on analyst's upgrade UBS analyst David Palmer boosted his rating on Kellogg from "neutral" to "buy" and said that 2009 should be a better year than 2008 for the company's shares, Associated Press (1/16) reported. Palmer said conditions for Kellogg are improving as ingredient costs moderate and also noted the company should benefit from several new product innovations.

 

Kellogg unveils global Corporate Responsibility Report – Kellogg released its first global Corporate Responsibility Report, providing an accounting of the company's progress and future direction in four key areas, Progressive Grocer (1/14) reported. In conjunction with its inaugural report, Kellogg has set a goal of 15 percent to 20 percent reductions in energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, water use, and waste per metric tons of food produced by 2015, relative to 2005 baselines.

 

Special K kicks off 'Wake-Up Call' in Times Square – As the ball dropped at Times Square, Kellogg's Special K reminded revelers it's time to diet, Advertising Age (1/22) reported. Special K's "wake-up call" campaign kicked off on the NASDAQ and Reuters billboards in Times Square just before midnight on New Year's Eve and runs through January.

 

Kellogg FiberPlus bars To get more fiber in your diet, give the new Kellogg’s FiberPlus bars a try. Supermarket Savvy (1/20) said the new bars are a tasty way to get some fiber and have a chewy, nutty, chocolate flavor.
